ooo I hope its smoking good!
I used Ozone 3 for some time but i purchased Waves bundle and i think it sounds much better.Using L2 compressor and a EQ of Waves i had exactly the same if not a better result. Now with v7 from waves there is the plugin “L3 16” frequency compressor and it makes wonder for fine tuning of frequencies in a stereo track.
Of course its only my opinion but i think Ozone is overated.
I agree Waves plugins are great. However, I’ve always had so much trouble with their authentication that I gave up using them long ago, which is too bad – I thought the L2 sounded fantastic.
I’ve had Ozone 4 and Alloy for a few months now, but every time I try to use them the results are not at all desirable, and I just fall back to the Voxengo plugs I’ve been using for the last couple of years. Given that Ozone gets almost unanimous praise I must be doing something wrong
. I think I’m expecting too much out of the presets and will have to do some serious knob twiddling before I give up entirely.
I also really like Ozone. I don’t like any of the presets (same as with any mastering plug I’ve tried) but I watched a few Youtube video tutorials and understand now how to get what I want. Now I really like my results.

You mean… put in… time and effort? I guess I could do that…
I agree that presets in any application generally don’t give you what you want, but Waves, Voxengo, and a couple of other plugs I’ve used came with presets that were a great starting point for discovery of a new tool, and I could usually find something that got me close enough to tweak into goodness when I was just learning. Ozone, on the other hand, was a bit discouraging out of the box, and just haven’t had the time yet to do a deep dive.
But maybe I’ll use this thread as new motivation to hit the books and see what I can get out of it.

Does it have a ‘Studio Magic’ button? A big button that makes all your music problems go away?
