I purchased the Midnight Sun theme and the pages displayed on the main navigation are listed in alphabetical order as opposed to the order that I set for each page under “edit page” in the admin panel. Does anyone know how to change that?

You need to edit the wordpress files, depending on the theme, it should be in the header.php

if you send me an email, I will have a look through your files for you.

You can set the arguments to menu order…

<?php wp_list_pages('sort_column=menu_order'); ?>

More info at this page

I’ve the same problem.

Isn’t there a WP plugin, that do this for me?

... sorting the pages, as I want and perhaps excluding some pages from being shown?

If you change anything on template files, these changes will be overwritten, if the author offers an update of the theme and you copy the new theme’s files to your server :-(

You will need to edit the template files, all the answers to your questions are in the codex.

You can just show certain pages in the WP menu, by excuding certain ones.

Just customise the nav, and then keep a backup of the new nav (just copy the nav section to the new theme if you get an update).

Thanks for the email, the code for the menu is written differently to how wordpress tell develoepers too.

I will look into it more after i get in from work, I might need to see more of the files to take a proper look.

Hi, i´m the author of the theme.

The menu is coded in that way to allow the individual selection of pages from the admin panel, therefore, you need to change the way they show in that list if you want to use the page order as the sort filter for the menu, it is easy tough. Go to functions.php line 541.

You should see this:

$pages = get_pages();

change it for

$pages = get_pages('sort_column=menu_order');

I just tested it, it works. You might need to reselect the pages in the admin panel before you see any changes.
