Phoenix theme questions

Hello, I have some questions about Phoenix theme:

- I don´t understand exactly how the slider works. Is necessary to upload silhouetted images, photos by layers? (.psd?). It´s very interesting but could I also make a slider with normal photos without layers?

- Is easy to handle or is more difficult than Goodspace? is there any substantial difference in handling Phoenix if you compared with Goodspace?
