Smashing Magazine did a pretty nice post on Fireworks tutorials.

I got into a heated debate with another web designer.

Curious to how many people here actually use Fireworks.

Also curious to how many people think FW is “superior” to PS for web design.

FW is a great tool for designing web sites. You can’t beat PS of course but FW is made especially for web.

Photoshop for me, but I’ve got a couple guys in my office that use Fireworks I think its just boils down to personal preference

Fireworks = Web Design Work

Photoshop = Professional Photo Editing

imo it wouldn’t make sense Adobe to release competing products and that too in the same package. Both quiet different apps there.

I bounce back and for between the two. They actually work pretty good together. Only because I find doing certain things easier in one than the other.

Overall. I choose photoshop because I got used to it. As contempoinc said, it’s down to personal preference. :- )

Also, was fireworks competition for photoshop before the amalgamation of adobe and macromedia?

I’m with everything all of you said. Especially the point that it is personal preference. I just think it to be a bit silly to say FW is only for web design and PS is only for photo editing.

They both are powerful tools.

I prefer PS but FW CS4 has some great stuff and I can drop in my PS files right into it and do some cool stuff then import right back into FW.

I just realized something.

This is almost like the Mac vs PC issue and Moo Tools vs JQuery…

It’s the same old argument. In the end it doesn’t matter as long as you are producing great work. Every one has their preferences.

Either you like Coke or you like Pepsi. Either you like Nike or you like Reebok.

Can’t we all just get along?
