Hello everybody,

I really want to make a Photoshop Themes for sale. But I’m still very confused about it, and would like to understand things better.

I don’t really know much about Html, but I do know about Photoshop. I noticed that there is a category for: “PSD THEMES ” but I’m not sure if this is for me so this is the reason I start this thread, to get some answers.

What are the needs to make and sale a Psd Theme ? Is it as simple as it sound? I mean, I need to create a Theme using Photoshop, making a layer for each button and section such as: Home, About, Gallery, Products, etc…

and then Save it as PSD file, and I’m ready to go ? or did I misunderstood the all idea of selling PSD Themes and I need other stuff such as Html and other stuff included.

I would like to get some help in this, Can somebody please answer my questions ?

Thanks ahead,

Sorry about my bad English.

UPDATE :

I found This Video Tutorial (click to watch)
If I’ll export using this way, will this be an acceptable HTML Version of PSD that I can upload ?

If anybody knows any better detailed Video Tutorials for this, please let me know.

Hi Krazy Kartoons,

I’m not too sure about your question but I’m sure just the psd is fine.

If you need help coding your psd files to html & css I can help you out.

Cheers

Hi,

You’ll need to make the PSD in such a way that it is easy to customize for the buyer. + you need to make a helpfile allso explaining which layer correspond with which element of the template etc etc …

good luck ;)

Thank you for helping in this guys,

I’m not sure if I understood 100% so let me get this straight, Those questions may sound obvious to some of you, please don’t get mad at me for asking I just want to understand better before I start work on my very first PSD Theme.

I create a new document, create the graphics, buttons, layers and all save it as PSD file. Then I create a text file for every section of the website (About, Gallery, Shop, etc…) Maybe I didn’t understand this very well… not sure, the wiki only confused me, that’s why I’m asking at the forums.

Now, for more specific questions:

1 – Do I need to slice the website? or it’s nothing to do with the “PSD Theme” it’s just for the “Html Themes” ?
2 – Do I need to supply the PSD Source of all my document (the graphics and layers) ?
3 – Do I need to supply the Exported Sliced version html+images – or this is for the “Html Themes” only?

I want to make PSD Themes because I don’t know much about html, I can only design graphics that’s why I ask those annoying questions ;)

Thanks ahead everybody!

Hey KrazyKatoons,

For uploading a PSD theme, you’d need:

  • Maybe 3 or more fully-layered/foldered PSD’s.
  • All PSD ’s easily customizable.
  • A ReadMe file for buyers.
  • For uploading an HTML theme, you’d need:

  • Maybe 3 or more fully-valid/coded HTML templates.
  • All PSD ’s for the pages, easily customizable.
  • A ReadMe file for buyers.
  • All sliced images.
  • Something fancy like a drop-down menu or a slider.
  • Hope this helps :)

Thank you for the details KeithDee, This is much more clear to me now. I appreciate it :)

Such thing should be added to the wiki… I’m pretty sure I won’t be the last who will be confused. it will help reduce future rejections. ;)

I didn’t want to open another Thread so I’ll use this one.

What is the standard resolution for a PSD Theme ? I would like to read your recommendations for a global size that most people will found useful.

Nowadays there is a trend to create websites to fit 1024×768 screens with some space on the sides, so most people create designs that are 960px wide. Try using 960 Grid System.
