Because the majority of people like to buy items with more shades and materials. The items which looks more realistic, but the artist only knows how hard and timeconsuming is working and creating art with illustrator. If you want to sell more you should stick to this rule.

Because most buyers does not have Illustrator installed. Many buyers bought my vector-made items then asked me how to edit using Photoshop
.
Only designers and professionals know how to use Illustrator and Indesign … the rest of the humans rely on Photoshop

After over a year now trying to learn both, i am amazed at what both programs can achieve. I think the important thing is knowing in the first place what you want to achieve in a project, and then you can use just what you need in the programs together to make it.
thanks everyone! I know both pretty well but for some reason I always end up doing my GR stuff in Illustrator. I’m now going to try a few PS items to see how the sales compare…
Illustrator (as the vector graphics in whole) is awful instrument
– this state things will not changes until vector tool would not be flexible fast and friendly for artists hands. Just Some time ago there vere positive changes with gradient mesh tool.
More people use Photoshop. Simple.
Illustrator is a niche tool; which many designers and authors don’t know how to use correctly.
When I release files, I tend to create both a .psd and an .ai in the download, covers a larger market.
