No one is trying to hide anything, just reduce the amount of silly comments often made people who have not bought the file and have no intention to do so.

Removing spam is one thing. Removing comments by real people on the grounds that you deem them ‘silly’ is entirely different. It supports the biased assumption that certain opinions or expressions should, by default, be erased. This is precisely why the leap was necessary.

as said in another thread… scrolling down to the comments takes a lot longer than just clicking a link, specially when the description is very long… as example on AD they are very long, why making it hard if it can be so easy

I voted no, cause I also think that now we have a better organised site, with enough space for a product description without that maximise button, witch I personally didn’t like. As DS also said, comments are mostly posted by other authors, and if a buyer needs to see some feedback on the product, one click will not harm to get the necessary information. Besides there is also a new FAQ ’s section witch is really great addition for questions already posted on comments page.

I’m not saying that critical comments should be removed but – sadly – you often times get people going personal or leaving comments with no use at all. Those comments get deleted by the staff anyway (while critique will never be removed, which is a good thing) but it takes a while and will hurt sales so long. Getting a critical comment can be very useful as it gives the author the change to clear things up. But there have been cases in which users “stalked” authors files to be the first to leave a bad comment b/c of personal reasons until their account gets banned by envato.

Ok, I figured out, you can delete the cookies from answers.polldaddy.com and vote as many times as you want to … so this poll doesn’t really make any sense !
