I thought to myself ‘it’s September 1st’ and eagerly swung over to the popular files page to see which authors were Top of the Pops last month in terms of sales. But on the popular files page, the Top Authors is still showing sales for July.

I thought. ‘A-ha – it’s because the site updates on Australian time’, but when I thought a little harder, I realised it was September 1st several hours earlier than Europe in the Antipodes.

Is the monthly Top Authors list not automatically compiled? Or is there some built in delay for some reason? I’m curious.

good point @felt_tips – can I also get an explanation of popular files and how they are updated? What I mean by this is if at the moment it says popular files last week (up to Aug 31 09) would that be 25-31 inclusive – ie a full 7 days prior to the ending date and including that ending date. I’d really like to know as I have never been able to work it out for sure as I think I keep missing out by like 1 sale – it will help me to work out when to upload to attempt to gain better exposure as the main new files tab is just rotating too much right now with all the scripts / error pages.

I think it’s because of the massive cache system at the website. So it’s only a matter of time when cron will be executed to update statistics
