Well whenever I tried to upload a “different” template layout or style it got rejected and I was suggested by the reviewer to take a look at the top selling files.

If you want innovation try to support it first :p

I think we need to do what P&K did. :(

Why what did they do?

I think sales have dropped globally on all flash related products, extremely noticeable after the global crisis end 2008. Up till then it was easy to earn ‘large bags full of pennies’, not anymore.

While I have not been active for a long, I am not maybe the right person to say this. But I think it is pretty obvious that you can not get enough sales anymore with the same concepts, same layouts etc. There are too many of these concepts already and people have seen it. The interaction/overall feel is not experienced in the same way as 2 years ago. Technology improves; new techniques (ie PV3D ) computers can handle more, but most stuff looks/acts the same as before. People have to do more research about new upcoming interface trends. Also I have the feeling, many people only try one thing, if it seems to work they go on. To get innovative / better experienced products you need to try multiple things and then make a decision. This sometimes means that you have to start over because a concept just does not work. I think flash is not about information consumption only, it is about the emotion people get when interacting with a new kind of interface with some cleverness and suprises in it. Balance and usability does not have to be forgotten though.

In my opinion people have to stop copying or just start creating something. Look at new websites, get inspired. Look at things you might think would work better, or would have a more “cool” factor if you would addapt it in some way.

People saying, “everything is already done” are just ignorant. If this was true, sites like FWA would have to stop giving awards.

It will cost more time, a lot more time probably. But with better research(looking around, trying out ideas, testing/discussing with users), better concepts will come out. It is better for your sales and for the rest of the world :)

Exposure is still a major factor for good sale, too many and increasing files everyday makes your files less noticeable significantly.

Unless the file stays in popular list (which is because it’s high demand and innovative), keep uploading new file is a way to maintain steady sale. Obviously I’m talking about good file, we don’t need any more mediocre stuff.
