Just an idea, why not allow users to browse further down the popular items lists? – currently it shows the top 50, why not

->more

or equivalent, underneath the popular items, which shows 50-100, 100-150 etc. Would give items a longer life before they got buried in the site, and would help the more unique / niche items get more long term sales..

There may be very high quality but more specialised items that would pull in a regular 15-30 sales per week but currently if they dont make the top seller list after a few weeks they likely wont ever be found again.

This would better allow authors to make more innovative items, as going away from ‘what is a guaranteed top seller’ (stretched, large slider, 4 columns, large footer) wouldn’t be so risky, and would allow these more niche items to generate long term sales.
