Hello!

Fairly new to FLASH , so I hope I’m calling things correctly.

What I’d like to do, say for a restaurant site, is on a menu item click, pop-up a window that shows the menu in a scrollable text box. I know how to create a scrollable text box, but was wondering the best approach on this.

Do you set the textbox visible propert to “hide” or whatever, then on the click event for the menu, change is to “show”? ...then via a red “X”, change it back to “hide” on the Click event?

I’ve seen templates here do that, and I’d like to try it myself.

Thanks!

you can use for the menu this script… and.. for the window close button… you can use only the _visible=false thing…
this code is for actionscript 2.0
button.onRelease = function (){
    if (window._visible == true){
        window._visible = false;
        }else{
            window._visible = true;
            }
    }

Hello!

Thanks for the response.

I’m assuming some how I have to set the visible property to false when the file first shows.

I have the following in the Actions pane (txtMLText is the var name of the textbox):

function() { }

txtMLText._visible == false

...but it’s not working. I was going to use a simple button to set it to visible and use your code you posted, but I think I need to get the initial visibility set first.

Thanks for all the help!

default it has _visible = true

what you have write there must be like this:
function() {
      txtMLText._visible = false;
}
