A helpful nettuts tutorial might be something to do with using custom post types to create portfolio items that connect to a portfolio page with Wordpress 3… Might be beneficial to many authors out there… Just throwing that out there :-)

Wordpress 3 has the new “custom post type” feature. I’d be interested to see an example of how to incorporate that as creating a portfolio for a wordpress theme.

So when the user creates a portfolio item, they’d do with some custom portfolio blog post, opposed to just having them create a standard blog post and add in custom fields with some meta box (i.e. for portfolio image, portfolio thumbnail, etc) that says “ignore this if this is not a porfolio item” (which is the way i personally do it now, and I’ve seen many other authors that do, too.)

here you go a simple starter. And you can then limit meta boxes to a single post type.
