I’ve stumbled upon this thread, because the support from Envato is more than ignorant.
For example: [link removed]
This theme is the latest crap i’ve bought for my own company. I have accounts for many clients, where i also bought themes, code snippets, flash container, etc.
But things like the above are the death for all Envato marketplaces.
This theme is far below the WP Codex, and the only way to get this theme running is by using the delivered clone package.
Seriously: i have to clone a whole WP install???
Pardon, i have done more than 500 installs of wordpress, themes, and some other tricky things in my life. But when it tears down to the point that i have to clone a site, then i think there’s really something wrong with this stuff.
But this theme is not the only one…
I also bought a AE render template, which needs about 8 hours to render for a 55 sec movie. On my machine. A 7 .000 $ machine. And i can’t render, because the author “forgot” to use standard names for some effects, so his project (from serbia) messed up.
Seriously: if the automotive industry would produce so much (pardon) “crap”, sooner or later all people would drive bicycles, ride a train or fly by plane.
I can’t understand why the decision makers allow that kind of “quality” on a marketplace which started pretty nice.
Most of my colleagues download the wanted templates “for free” from various ressources. They know it is not legal, but i can understand them; and if it goes on that way, i also will go for it.
Why?
They load it, install it, when it is crap, they go for the next. When it is working, they buy it.
I can understand this, because the support from Envato is the worst i’ve ever seen with digital goods.
Sincerely
Alex

@opensourcecompany – I’m really sorry to hear about your experience Alex, I would contact envato support, if the item does not work then you should be eligible for a refund.
HOWEVER , I wanted to make sure you understand that this is a marketplace of thousands of authors, please don’t umbrella every author as terrible with support (or products) – I agree it is the duty for Envato to ensure products are correct – however support for individual items is offered by authors (if offered at all – it’s not required) and many of us really understand the importance of proper coding and backing up our products with great support.

I just sent you an email @opensourcecompany as I said, please report this theme to Envato Support and we will review it again.

Why not just paginate the new items and top sellers list in some way? – If the approach remains to place such reliance on these two mechanisms for buyers to find files, just let them browse more this way. At least then exposure wouldn’t drop dead from these mechanisms if the theme falls off the front page, or doesn’t make it to the top sellers page. Wouldn’t fix it, but would improve it somewhat.
+1000. paginate all

I already did; let’s see how this is going on. But this is not the only item i bought in the past.
As alreay mentioned, i have many accounts, each client, who buys here, has his own account.
And there are some “rotten apples”

No, i don’t say all authors.
But it should be Envatos staff to sort out the rotten ones.
Sure, a variety of authors create more stuff, but also produces more, erm, waste.
For my personal needs, i stick with about 20 authors, because of their way of coding and documentation (hm, might buy one of your themes, they look not bad
).
I hope for the future that there is more quality than quantity, otherwise i can just code myself.

This is the new quality of TF? item id: [id removed]. And it takes from our exposure for the items on which we work 1-2-3 months. I’ve seen ugly templates before, but this is just ….
Plus: [id removed] (original) vs [id removed] (100% copied, same fonts, same stuff) and it’s still online after 4 days, after probably countless reports.
Is this what Envato’s becoming? I mean, why bother searching on external websites for our templates, we should now look directly on ThemeForest. I understand that it’s impossible for the reviewers to know all the templates, but even after many users report a template, someone should do something.
And regarding the quality of some templates around…no comment, it’s pretty sad.
EDIT : Not to mention he’s and exclusive author, but sells his work elsewhere and that he is advertising another rivalry marketplace on his profile, which is a copy-paste from ThemeForest.
