True but if your file is bug free with enough support documentation and clear comments in the code, you won’t need to support your file on a daily basis.

It almost seams like you don’t get “THAT” questions on your files? Most of the times (90%) has nothing to do with bugs or commented code.

I know what you mean, it’s either a modification request e.g ” I bought your image gallery but can it play FLV ’s ?” or beginner flash question e.g “how do you change the colour of the rollover text?” If your image gallery could play FLV ’s you would’ve mentioned it on the file page and if they bought the file thinking it could play FLV ’S then it’s their own fault. And for support for beginners using intermediate to advanced flash files, if they get stuck even following the documentation they can’t expect the author to be on 24 hr support to help them, thats not why we signed up for FlashDen.

That’s exactly one of the reasons I don’t need to look for freelance work anymore. This is the good part of having to support so many people – most of them will pay for the work involved to customize a file specially for them.

I see this as a good point. Also, from time to time one needs to stop uploading items as long as the files sell as hotcakes. This is in order to be able to support them. It does take a lot of time.

Here in Romania we’re also feeling the US $ going down. All I could do is change from $ to euros when it comes to freelancing, but we needed a change on FlashDen too.

Glad you started this thread tri. I am glad FD changed the highest price. :D

On a slightly unrelated note, it does seem rather annoying to only get such a tiny cut of the profit from our own work, i mean, you can get at BEST half of it, but to get that you gotta spend hours of time making some really good files to sell enough at 25% to get your rate up. I’ve put up four files now, admittedly i didn’t spend a huge amount of time on them, but of the 70$ they made i get an amazing 17$ish… I understand flashden has to run the site and pay their staff etc. but it does seem rather unpleasent to be taking the majority of the profits from our work. This system only works well for people who re lucky enough to find some random item that people want. Some popular files i’ve seen on here are, in my opinion, total junk – a sound on/off button, for example, selling 40 times… Yet my particle engine only 5? This is a very strange market XD.

daperson, most of the people are looking for simple things. Things they can use and which they can customize. Sort the files by sales and you’ll see what I mean.

I’ve been put in the situation of buying some files from the den myself, and I did it to save some time, and it’s exactly what I was looking for – something simple which I can customize fast.

just a note from a buyers perspective. I have bought both V2 and V3 and many other templits and files that I have not even had time to use or even unzip for that matter. I buy them because i worry they might get taken down or go up in price. I also buy them because the money is not allot. But if prices start going up to 40 and 50 I will not buy any file until I have too. At this point I buy files I like i think I would one day use. If it gets expensive I will buy nothing until I need it. That is something important to think about. when prices get high peope question if they should spend or not. when low phycologically they just think oh thats nothing lets get it.
