Promoting Work on Youtube – Avoid Referral Links

So here’s a story about misunderstandings… According to the forum and Envato, it seemed to be ok to promote others authors work in YouTube… People here said several times that you just have to use the link in the description to the original work, put your referral code on it, and voila. Although, it seems as if someone feels like “flagging” your videos, YouTube actually bans you for using content which isn’t yours…

So for others to learn from my lesson, if you have your own work, better to promote just that.

That’s strange…. I thought they ban only those people who is providing free links, warez sites, etc….

apparently, if your video gets flagged and there’s a referral link in the video description – YouTube considers it as spam.

In case YouTube reviews a flagged video and sees it as “spam” (meaning they see your referral link in the description, shortening the URL does NOT help), they can instantly terminate your account, channel and provoke your access.

With YouTube being such a huge search engine for our work, it’s a bit sad to see we cant legally promote our work in it (yes, even if its our own work, once we put a referral link in the description we’re disobeying the community guidelines)

According to community guidelines: Using referral links on youtube IS considered spam. Those of you who have channels out there with subscribers, maybe you can prevent it before it happens to you.

Otherwise, once someone will decide to flag you, you’ll be out in no time.

Yes, It’s either the URLs to your own Blogs/Domains and whatnot (from there you can use the referral link) or use the complete link without the referral code …

But did you get your youtube account banned for this?

Yes sir. Channel Banned, Account Terminated – with only one appeal containing 200 characters, and an automated message.
