I am putting this in the global category because I want to hear from anyone who has experience with this.
Has anyone ever tried to promote their business through Second Life? It seems like a lot of effort to me, to set up shop there and run it. Basically just a second world that needs attention.
I also don’t see it as very rewarding, but perhaps I am wrong.
Anybody have any experiences/comments?
huh? what do you mean by “Second life”?

installed one time, but crappy looking and I hate the way the characters move around. Deleted after a half an hour. Just a place for porn and stupid stuff. At least that was my impression. If I want to lose my life on this kind of worlds I should at least chose wow or something better. But I don’t want. So I just wait for Starcraft 2. And, ok I’m offtopic, but Diablo 3 also.
is secondlife still alive…i stopped playing that after not being able to earn any virtual/real currency and any way most people their are only for fun..so i dont think it would be a great advertising idea..
I don’t mean actually playing the game as a character, but I heard that it is possible to set up a virtual business there.
@ AdamGold, google it.
herez my experience…i tried the job of renting myself for advertising..and so i’d to wear Tshirts with logos or wear the hoardings…and when people click on them they’ll be shifted to those advertising locations…and i dont remember earning much money(virtual) over there which means not many people clicked the ads…there are too many things to do in there for people to care about ads like this…

Arik does not want to play computer games… he is talking about advertising.
I read that Second Life has lost a lot of their users and big business…. Harvard University was there for example….

I read that Second Life has lost a lot of their users and big business…. Nissan and Harvard University were there…. and I heard they are no longer in Second Life.
yeah I know but I think its still sad that its there, I doubt its worth it personally, I haven’t heard it mentioned anywhere for a good 6-12 months…
I think it died out tbh. Twitter is all the rage now.
