Hi All,

I have just found out about a program called HTTrack which can clone websites. Which got me thinking, what stops a potential client from stripping your entire demo site and not purchasing your theme.

But then I found out a way to block the program from being able to access your site. Add the following entries to your .htaccess

To block httrack; try using:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^HTTrack 3.0x.* [NC,OR]

or

RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^HTTrack.* [NC,OR]

The program does not respond to your robots.txt file.

Regards,

TigerModules

Yeah that’s right but ubfortunatelly this is not the only software that can do this. Here is an article that show how to block almost all known bad boots:

Not to mention that anyone with half brains using that software changes the user agent :)
