My critique on the last one you posted:

Iinstead of << you should use «. Angle quotation marks – html codes at http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp

I would stay away from the bold serifs. I think that using one font for the entire design is a bit painful too. I would definitely switch to a sans-serif for body text and small text (ie search button)

Not a fan of the underline as a hover/active state. Looks more like a button and therefore I think the bg should change on hover.

I don’t like how things aren’t lining up. For example, on the Latest entries from the blog the icon, heading, and teaser text are all at different indent levels.

The icons in the headings are also different spaces apart from the text.

Need some consistency with links. The read more links are the same as the text above the social networking buttons which I assume isnt actually a link.

Hope that helps!

Hey,

Okay, that’s definetely a lot better. What you wanna do is make the text 8pt (Around 12px) and make the text aliasing (Crisp, strong etc.) to None.

Make the headings something like a light Georgia or Arial.

And take off the underline on the navigation, it takes away the whole fact that there are buttons there, and makes them look like text links.

Do this and it should look good!

Hey this brings up a question, I was wondering about the other day, coding a PSD to HTML … How do I change the text aliasing in CSS ? Is this possible? Thanks!

There’s actually no possible way of aliasing fonts in CSS , it can only really be done in graphics. As you will notice in Photoshop, 8pt arial looks kinda pixely. However, in the web, your browsers font rendering engine will smooth out the text :)

Shame, though.

Okay, something more like this? I’m not quite sure if the nav active state is ok :/

A lot better. I think if you take the bold out, and replace it with 14-16px Lucida Sans Unicode, on footer, nav, and buttons, it’d look awesome.

And maybe aligning the ‘Something about me’ and ‘Blog entries’ all in one line would make it look better, just to neaten it up :)

It’s really a big improvement, I can see this being approved :D

(And the active state for the nav = awesomeness)

i think you made some good progress.

I would make the bg a little brighter, it’s too much gray, make it contrast a little bit more with the theme. Dunno.

There’s no place for a logo also.

Nice work though, keep improving it
