Hi,

Just wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction…

Below are my comments in order of submission.

28th July Thanks so much for taking the time to submit this file. Unfortunately this file does not meet our strict aesthetic guidelines and cannot be approved at this time. Please consider familiarizing yourself with the quality of the files already accepted in the ThemeForest. If you would like feedback from your peers on improving your file, please visit the Item Discussion forum.

We appreciate your submission and look forward to seeing your future submissions.

31st July 1. Your file has some well done design concepts, however it does not meet the current and very stringent quality guidelines and we can not accept your file at this time. You will need to make some additional improvements in overall aesthetics and aspects such as typography, graphics and spacing.

2. There are a few inconsistent spacing issues throughout the design.

3. Overall template’s typography needs additional refinements and improvements before it will be ready for sale.

4. Even with the current design, a significant increase in the polish of the various aspects of the template may just swing the decision in your favor.

2nd August This template is not ready for ThemeForest. Your template does not provide a unique enough design with the necessary design quality, features and options to compete in the marketplace at this time. It requires improvements in term of design, visual hierarchy, typography, layout and its aesthetic quality but most importantly, its uniqueness and how the design is executed.

At this stage in the design I am, unfortunately, not able to provide more specific feedback other than what I’ve stated above (the design needs overall, general improvements). With further improvements I may be able to provide more specific feedback.

It feels like i’m going backwards as the comment previous to the latest seems positive in a strange way.

You can view my design below.

Hello there!

Overall, I think this is not up to par for the .PSD category, unfortunately. It is by far the hardest category to get accepted in, as everything has to be pixel perfect – and VERY unique.

Think about it, for someone to ignore the hundreds of ready HTML or WP or Joomla files and pick a PSD it has to really stand out and offer something new to counter the need to code it.

The biggest issues I can see are typography (mainly spacing and sizes), inconsistent spacing and alignment and most importantly, uniqueness.

As it is, it’s a quite bland template. Try to take out the images for a second – The rest is just laid out text – it looks too bland.

I wish you all the best, Nikos

Hi Nikos,

Many thanks for taking the time to respond, my main reason for going down the PSD route is that i’d rather release a HTML or Wordpress version of the template. I just wanted to make sure the design was accepted as a PSD first as I dont want to spend weeks coding a template for it to get the same response.

Whats confused me the most is the second comment. I thought I was slightly on track.

But todays comment was just the generic hard response.

I had that as well. After 3 completely off-track rejections, I got 2 specific ones, with the exact above quote from the reviewer, leading me to believe I was closing in.

Then, got 2 very generic rejections and shut the whole project down, moving on to my next one.

I understand this can be very confusing, you could contact the reviewer asking if he/she thinks the template is more fitting for HTML /WP and if it’s getting better or not.

Nikos
