PSD to (X)HTML /CSS

I want to ask you some questions about how you work on “PSD to HTML ”. I actually don´t start with a PSD -template to build a HTML Webtemplate. I just bring in the basic elements and pictures of a PSD -template. So do you really slice the whole PSD -template to make full HTML /CSS Theme? How long does it take for you to convert PSD to HTML ?

It’s funny to say this but i actually work on the exact same way like you do I also “export” various elements and pictures, and start coding from there on. The time schedule varies per PSD from 1-2 hours to 3-4 hours or even longer!

I actually, create a high res png. Place on page using img src, then css code over the top.. Adding html divs etc, then. Delete the image…

Everyone thinks im mad, but it works for me.

I don’t even use the slice tool :P…its so old school…I export hig res .PNGS…and get going

I can’t start coding without having the whole picture in front of my eyes So yes, I first make the full psd – homepage, inner pages, normal and hover buttons, etc. Only after that I start coding the HTML /CSS/Js. Depending on the difficulty of the PSD files, it can take anywhere between 5 hours and 20 hours. I don’t use the slice tool, since I want to keep myself flexible for the HTML , but I copy-paste each piece of graphic on a new file of exact dimensions, as I progress with the HTML code

I also don’t start coding the WP until I have the whole HTML /CSS ready So I am a “step by step” kind of gal

Are there any tutorials on how to do this?

I just grab a calculator paper and awy i go.I could make a tut, but i always get rejected. Lol

I wanted to ask the very same question. I want to learn how to make web site templates, I have some skills in HTML , javascript, sql, php and stuff but I really don’t know where to start? Ill make psds for now and maybe I’ll code them later.

I have a question for u guys (and a girl ). Do you code everything in text editor or is there some nice software to easy the pain? This question is probably dumb but again I know how to code a specific thing but whole site is a problem.
