Yesterday I purchased an awesome wordpress theme from here. I was ready to set it up and transfer all my files to wordpress, but the theme was giving me a few problems. It is mainly a problem with permalinks. As soon as I change my pages to www.mysite.com/like-this versus the post IDs, the layout of the page changes, AND the links do not work properly. I understand how to modify some of the links on the proper php page, but it still doesn’t function properly.

If I can not get this to work, what are my options? could my money be refunded? I am trying to get help from the theme creator but what happens if he does not succeed in fixing the problems?

It might be a problem with your .htaccess file. Does the directory which you are using WP have a .htaccess file? If so, what’s in it?

Some of my buyers had this issues to and when i’ve taken a look at there settings i came to the conclusion that there permalink setting where not filled in correctly.

Some hosts require to have index.php? before /%postname%/ so when i've changed there permalink settings to index.php?/%postname%/ it worked like a charm.
Maybe you need to try this and see if it will help, just go to your wordpress admin panel then settings->permalink and select custom structure to achieve this.

Thanks Hein! Your solution helped with the permalinks problem, but the layout still messes up the positioning of some of the text areas when the permalinks are changed… so weird

I would recommend to start over again since you’ve solved your permalink solution now, so try it again with a fresh install this time.
