Im remaking my website and have come to the Contact page. As a a freelancer I work fgrom home and dont want to be phoned by Indians looking for work or directories looking for some ££££.

So my question is, should I put my phone number and address on my site or will it be okay just to provide my Twitter name, email address (alongside my main contact form). ?

If you work from home, never put your home address. I used to have my phone number up, until I started getting phone calls at 3 in the morning. Your email, along with a contact form should be good.

Putting your home address will probably attract more ‘local’ clients. But you know, making it available to everyone, that might be risky…

Buy a cell phone (mobile phone) or buy a skype number and use it exclusively for your business so that you are accessible but can switch it off or turn to voicemail – best thing to do and it’s all set against your taxes as an operational cost 100%.

I have a local business address on mine, not my apartment address. As for phone number I have a message on my site saying that my phone number is available on request via email, that means my clients get in touch with me via email first and then I give them my number to talk. Seems to work fine for me.

Thanks guys, some good advice here. I will add my email address (encoded of course) and Skype; maybe even MSN .

I used to have my home address on the site but got a bit fed up of people thinking they could just drop in. As for home telephone number – no way – I used to get calls all the time from Spammy Directories and Indian ‘web designers’ asking me to outsource.
