I’m working on a design, this time I’m starting to use the golden ratio for get a better design, but I have a question about the line height in a design with different column sizes, since the line height depends of the line width, I don’t know how to adjust the line height without break the vertical rhythm.
In this image, the line height is the same in all the text (25px): Link
In this, the line height is variable depending of the line width, but I think that it breaks the vertical rhythm:
I’m using this to obtain the line height: http://www.pearsonified.com/typography/
Which do you think is the best?
Stick with a single line-heigt value. Calculate the value based on the width of your most used column – that is if most pages use content column and sidebar then use the content column’s width.
Thanks for the comment, I think that you have reason, I’ll use a single line-height value. Now, do you like the typography in general of the first image?
Well I found this: http://www.markboulton.co.uk/journal/incremental-leadingI think that is the answer about my initial question.
