Thanks for the responses guys… What AbelLangbid said sounds spot on. It just didn’t make sense to me why this list doesn’t update more often, considering the amount of great items on GR. It does seem to give an unfair advantage.

I think the idea of a “Weekly Top New Items” like AbelLangbid suggested would be incredible. Is there a way to pitch this idea to Envato?

Its a typical Buyer’s mindset. and most of the popular items includes from previous years. It would be great if Envato can also showcase “Weekly Top New Items” to give them more exposure just like “Top New Authors” of the month. Honestly its very hard to compete with those long time running top selling items.

We want WEEKLY TOP NEW ITEMS!

Well, isn’t the Popular Items Link under each category what you want?

It shows last weeks popular items for that category.

Maybe the link should say “Last Weeks Popular Items”

He means top selling items that where uploaded last week anything that was uploaded before one week will not show in the list. I think month instead of week is better, because items will have enough time to sell.

Yes, That would probably be nice.

I get it now. As the Last weeks popular items contain longstanding items.

Just items approved within the last week with the most sales.

ya, Items can be considered as NEW Items if it’s been approved for the last 2-3months, beyond that, they wont be included in the Weekly Top New Items List. Hopefully that’s enough time for an Item to gain exposure in our massive libraries.

Well said. This is a basic natural law where people trust other judgement more than their own. Buy what the other people have bought, especially when you have no time to waste. But saying that, most of those best selling items are awesome, and the authors have put a lot of time and effort into both making and marketing them on their own sites and others. Usually a high number of sales means ‘tried and tested’ and highly recommended. Maybe the only way to compete here now is to produce something totally different.

I think a lot of buyers are oriented towards the sales figures. They think “If an item has a lot of sales or is in the toplist, it must be pretty good”. That’s my opinion.

+1
And wanted top new items in weekly… :)
