I was just looking at those nice sticked discussions on top of all forums about new preview policy.

I have nothing against the new policy, I may say I support it, is a good move.

My question is.

Why the review team still accepts items with previews that obviously breaks this rule that we all know about?

I think the review team will reject files if they recognise someone, however, it is the review teams job to review files for quality, not for copyright infringements.

It’s understandable it isn’t the reviewers’ job to watch for copyright violations, but come on, I’ve even seen screenshots from movies in a live preview page. I won’t link to the specific item, but isn’t it really obvious that a copyright has been violated in such a case?

exactly, known games and movies. but not only in live previews where the reviewers may not have control. (the author can change the photos there since the live preview is on his server)

even if those screenshots had been released to be freely used, they have specific license who deny the use as promotional material for a completely unrelated commercial product. Just check the license for those “website theme pack” some game company offer on the official website for a certain game.

You can take a screenshot of a game and use it as a image for your review article online, but you can’t take the same screenshot and create an ad in a printed magazine for some random product you sell. Is the same over here.

And the envato staff knows this and they specifically enforced the copyright rules starting with January this year.

But somewhat I still see recent approved items across marketplace that break this rule.

off topic:

the edit button works now for me, if someone still have problems he could try clearing the cache.

Uh, maybe reviewers are living under a rock and don’t know such celebrities. :zipped:
