Quotes in a parameter of a shortcode problem

I might be wrong here but it seems…

[shortcode parameter="This text has \"quote\""]

...doesn’t work. The shortcodes system still thinks the first ” is the end of the first one.

Am i missing something here?

Edit: If you’re about to say to use…

parameter='This text has "quote"'

...yes i know about that but should it work like this too?

[shortcode parameter='This text has "quote" ' ]
