Hey guys. I get the smiley fun, but I’m sure the Sam would prefer if you had some actual comments :) Thanks!
Didn’t know the community couldn’t have fun anymore… times have changes
I got nothing wrong with having but, but just posting smilies to every thread you don’t agree with doesn’t really provide much in the constructive feedback category :)

sometimes posting a smile is better than just starting a big fight over the fact that words don’t match the action. but by posting smiles you get the risk of being wrongly interpreted, as it happens in this thread. let me translate so is clear and hope you see this as constructive feedback.

the photo from this thread have Collis standing in front of this phrase:

“We always have the interest of the community in mind”

This is a wrong phrase at the moment. It should be:

“Most of the time we have the interest of the community in mind”

Just one example:

it can’t be “Always” if we check how the particular “sale reversals in case of fraud” problem is resolved by envato. The policy at the moment “have no interest of the community in mind”.

Nothing is black or white off course and will be wrong to think that the phrase

“We never have the interest of the community in mind” is true. If there is an author/user who thinks this then should stop and meditate over this wrong assumption.

Also, to pretend from envato to always have the interest of the community in mind is pretentious and unnatural. A good business owner will have first his interest in mind and then the interest of his partners.

But if we really want to go deep over this linguistic problem then we have to recognize that having the community interest in mind every moment of your life or just five day each month doesn’t mean you actually act for the interest of the community. If we read the whole text from the image it states: “Brand position & Promise” and also “What we are saying” The text doesn’t say “we always act in the interest of the community”

So in conclusion “we always have the interest of the community in mind…” statement can be perfectly true even if ”... but we always act towards our interest” can also be true.

Hope I was clear. Also a smile: :)

Good interview, there’s a few things in there I didn’t know already so thanks Sam!

The ending note is my favorite :

Finally, have you got any advice for entrepreneurs thinking about starting their own businesses online? Absolutely, start small and jump in! There’s a ton to learn, and lots of ways you can go wrong. But the best way to learn entrepreneurship is by doing it, so you may as well get started.

Couldn’t have asked a better question. I agree, the best way is by doing it :D

http://wpcrownmag.com/category/interviews/ Some very cool Envato authors were also interviewed here. Collis was from the first ones.
