Hi,

I need to buy Fw or Ps for web design. I have read many articles on Fw vs. Ps, but could not reach to a final decision. My goals are …
1. Open the psd components which are available on the internet.
2. Sell my designs like psd templates (in themeforest).

I hope every des & dev tell me his/her own suggestions. I indeed need it.

Thanks in advance,

If you want to sell PSD templates than I would recommend using Photoshop because fireworks conversion to psd format is really bad. I also used to use fireworks but now I use photoshop and pretty happy with it.

+1 It’s “usable” but certainly not “TF PSD category” material.

I’m using Fireworks for about 8 years now and have created every single website screen design with it. It IS possible to create stunning and visually appealing designs, but there are some areas where Photoshop is simply better – let alone the brushes are a big plus for PS.

I think it would be still possible to create some good looking “Templates” with FW but since the majority is used to PSD Templates you should definitely use PS for that. I would even say that a Layered PNG (FW) wouldn’t get accepted alone because on the different file format, no matter how good the design is.

So if you’re going to create PSD Templates to sell on TF you should buy PS for sure.

With these two goals of yours I recommend Photoshop. The main reason is because you haven’t had Photoshop at the moment, which is a problem. You should already have Photoshop first, then wonder if you should buy Fireworks for your needs ;). That’s the common logic.

Best,

Creative Cloud is your friend! Why choose? I went from cs3 to creative cloud for £20 or so a month. Full package range, like the master collection, totally up to date too!
