Really need some help!

Hi Everyone, I really need your help building my website.

My domain is www.newmindorder.com so please have a look. Let me break down the briefing so that you are aware of what my requirements are.

1. I would like a website which has a blog feature, a page or section of the site where I can showcase my favourite youtube videos and possibly categories them also.

2. A well designed logo with the words newmindorder or nmo inside a triangle or pyramid and also inspired by symbols of alchemy, something technical, unique and brandable.

3. A page where my viewers can read my free books online, as well as export them as pdf for download.

I have a few other tweaks I would like, but am unsure what would be my best option. I really like wordpress, but drupal is also looking like a good contender to display my information.

This site will be my online journal where I share information and write about subjects like debt, personal development, mind, consicousness, inspiration, and the home to all these subjects. A place to give away as much freely available information as possible.

The template I currently have on there looks fine, however I dislike the fact that I have to add a post to showcase a free giveway I have found, I would prefer the likes of a online library.

Also I dont like how the very top featured slider is open when you first view the page, as well as the thumbnails at the bottom, they only show a few words of the post.

I visualise this site being the home of inspiration, I want to create the largest collection of books, like sacredtexts.com but with customised PDF downloads, as well as the best videos on youtube.

I will certainly intend to start a shop selling loads of cool things too, so the idea of being able to easily implement a shop, would be ideal.

Your help would be truly great, I am looking for someone who loves this idea and will provide more value than take from me. I will pay as much as I can afford for the right kind of help.

^ Not to attack you or anything, just wondering. Why reply with quote if youre the first poster and your quoting the entire post of the thread starter? Ive seen many others do this as well, but it doesnt make sense to me. I mean, we know youre replying to his post, so why quote the entire text?

Annoying huh.

On one of our forums, we have a member who always replies first to everything. And their biggest niggle which causes me strife, is when they quote someone who has posted 12 images etc.

Before you know it, 3 posts and the page is 18ft long !

As wasteful as the space being used is, I would kindly ask that everyone not make to much of an issue out of it, unless you can help me build this vision I would prefer to recieve a more positive response.

So you are after someone to develop the theme for you, so that it fits your needs.

Merely buying template these days is not enough.

All that you ask for are quite costly includions. For example a logo alone can cost hundreds if not thousands, dependant on your level.

99designs.com you can get people to theme an entire site for you, and do custom logos etc.

Yes I understand, however I believe that there are many templates/themes out there that would require just minimal tweaking in order to get what I need from the site.

This not a business plan or an investment, this is a place for people to visit when they need help, are in debt and just need to be inspired.

I work 40 hours a week, plus 30 hours a week of hustling, I really am limited in regards to my website coding ability. I am just praying that someone will see this site and feel as passionate as I do about getting it started.

If someone can do the few tweaks I need for this site, I will be happy.

1. Top feature bar to be closed when a visitor sees the site. 2. 6 lines of texts shown for the posts at the bottom of the home page. 3. A page or a working “featured videos” section 4. A page where I can upload free books.

Its not much to ask for I dont believe, I know I could use something like Drupal to get the functions I need, but that would mean alot more research as I am unaware of the pros and cons weighing up against wordpress for instance.

Sorry cant help, your asking for FREE help on what appears to be a commercial venture. You mention shop etc and selling and listing books.

If you want custom, generally you learn, or pay. Simple as.

Individual small elements, usually anyone on here will help you with and many for free.

Your OP , doesnt mention minor easy tweaks, in fact your asking for very specific requirements, that require time and effort.

In fact the more time and effort spent doing your site for free, would possibly mean that coder would then have a use for your site, as they will be needy and in debt. This isnt a charitable parketplace, moreso, it is frequented by many charitable and helpful users.

I wish you luck, but my advice. Buy a book on html, and css.

I own them, I read them, and I use them.

Sitepoint do a great array of books for beginners to experts.

However, the more likely hint is, to break your site down into its component parts.

So 1. create a storyboard ( sketches and schematics of flow and layout ) 2. identify what effect, feature, you wish for certain functions. 3. check out and identify the logic of a first time user, a returning user to your site. Methodically plan navigation that limits clicks to fundamental navigation and usage. 4. think of content and delivery and schema, to engage your clients. 5. then you can think of form and function, how will the site look, act feel and be used.

lastly, think of Logos !
