I bought Essential ActionScript 3.0 book, but I am so confused now. So many things are explained there that seems to be a not so good book for beginner. I want learn AS3 .0 but dont know how, where to start and what to look… Can you recommend me anything for learning AS3 .0? Thanks.

I made the same mistake. Bought Essential ActionScript 3.0 without knowing any actionscript at all. I gave up on trying to understand it soon, and went on to learning through online tutorials, and of course got tremendous help from the community around here.

HI.

I’m in the same shoes as you.

I prefer to learn by watching videos rather than reading those boring text books.

Try:

Good luck

I knew AS2 pretty well and I still found that book difficult. Now it’s more helpful because I understand a lot of the concepts but it takes sort of a breakthrough to grasp them (at least it did for me).

I think the best way to learn is to just make stuff. Challenge yourself often and you’ll learn bits and pieces every day :)

Yeah Colin Moocks books are good but they are not for beginners, they focus on classes and OOP and if you just want to learn the basics there is no need…

I found Lynda also followed the OOP route when it came to OOP …

Your best bet is to look on Flash Tuts or GTAL and follow those tutorials as most of them dont use OOP and will be easier for you to follow… dont give up on AS3 , its the way forward :)
