You should contact authors. Every project is different story. But there are some general tips: reduce 3d iteration if there are tons of layers which gives extrusion to text/logo/etc, disable/adjust dof if there is a dof, reduce motion blur passes (if there is motion blur), try with lower bpc (if it’s too high), etc…

Are you using multiprocessing? Edit/Preferences/Memory & Multiprocessing… You can set After Effects there to “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously”.

Off course every project is different… If project is very complicated you will need 1.5 or even 2GB per CPU.

Hm… I’m not sure then that Multiprocessing will help you a lot. With 4GB of RAM you will not be able to set 1.5 or 2GB per CPU. Maybe 1.5 but then you will use only two CPU units. And that’s only if you set AE to Leave below 1GB for other applications.
Maybe it’s the better to check again project bits per channel (bpc) and to lower it from 16 to 8 for example.
