hi bitfade

yes, it is absolutely legal and ok, cause you (p)refer someone to this file and you don’t say that it’s your file, so its ok

+1 – the buyer still buys your file here, and you get the com, while the referer gets a com for bringing a new buyer here. Everyone’s happy :-)

Anyone who wants to do that with my files go ahead :D

While there are positives on that, I feel there is only one sideeffect. If someone searches through google to quickly arrive a relevant resource, probably your flashden item and those ad sites will be listed almost nearly in a page. If they clicked that referrer site, thay might feel tired of reaching the original site or take diversions from that site!

@ vf: it’s a refferal, so it contains the link to the file on flashden.

I mean the same. Whatever may be the form, the user does several unnecessary clicks which is not going to be a guaranteed result. Mostly the people who refers other items are targtting only the file that are already popular. Note that!

i’m fine with ref links from blog/sites/twitter etc.

but what if we were talking about that kind of sites where authors promotes their work ? things like hotscripts, adobe exchange, softpedia, etc ?

that’s different if they are claiming it’s their own work. It’s actually illegal to submit work on Adobe Exchange if you don’t have permission from the original author of the work – which is in the Adobe site terms. there was one guy who did this and he had to remove those submissions which where other FD member files.
