If I buy a background item on GraphicRiver and use it for a website and then eventually decide to close the website can the background still be used on, say, another website or for anything else?

The same way if I buy a CSS button item on CodeCanyon and use it for a website and then close the website can the buttons still be used for anything else?

Thanks!

In my opinion, I would say yes. It should be similar to the rules on using software, if you install it onto one computer you cannot install it onto another until you have removed it from the first.

So single use means use in a single application but in an unlimited number of applications as long as the item is not being used simultaneously in more than one application, right?

That’s how I see it, but the licenses can be very confusing and even Envato support won’t answer the question.

I do feel that this would make sense though, as you are buying a single license and, that way, are only using that single license one time.

It’s probably because we’re reworking all our licensing starting with our Extended Licenses. It shouldn’t be long before we have some updates on the subject. Thanks for your patience :)

I think there needs to be some of the support staff knowing how the licenses work, because it says in the support section not to ask about them. The problem with this though, is that they can be deciphered in different ways, as can most contracts, and there just needs to be people who can clarify.

Agreed. The knowledgebase for Support and the public in general will get a complete rewrite with much more detail so we help answer a lot of the licensing questions we’ve been getting lately.

No problem. We’re trying to be much more communicative wherever we can. I still may have to say “I don’t know” or “I can’t say yet” sometimes. But at least we want our community to stay informed as best they can :)
