Rejected Shopify theme

My Shopfiy theme was rejected with the standard “doesn’t meet our criteria” email, which doesn’t even tell you what the problem was. Now I’ll admit my theme is not very flashy and the design could use some more work, but I still like it. My mistake was probably making something more inline with other shopify themes, which are all pretty simple.

Anyway, even if it never gets accepted here, I’d like to improve it so here it is:

I’d say the bottom half (article and blog) needs more work, and maybe the background is too plain, a pattern or gradient would liven things up. And maybe work some more on subtle typographic elements like list bullets, etc.

Any other ideas ?

I like it…. I think the featured area with the 3 t-shirts could stand out a little more, or make more of the featured t-shirts.

I also think that some of the text, down the right hand side needs a little work.. size and color? not sure.

Once on the other pages, the menu down the right hand side could also use some icons? something to make it really clear that they are links.

But I like it, could be a cool designers t-shirt site.

I wondered if I should pick better-looking products, but since those pictures will change I think it’s “cheating” to put tailor-made product pictures.

Put one of those slidey image things in the midlle like every other template on here and you’ll be ok. (Saracastic)

Shopify’s template system is actually pretty cool, so I might do another theme. Nex time I’ll try to include one of those slidey things that’s all the rage with kids these days
