i plan to release free version of my theme version as part of promotion. it has a bit different name.
is it fine? or violate any TOS of themeforest themes author?
no, your design is exclusive to TF
so i able to do it?
I don’t think you’ll be able to do it unless it’s WAY different or unless you opt out of exclusivity. But as others have said I would double check with Envato Support.
- Has been a member for 3-4 years
- Exclusive Author
- Sold between 1 000 and 5 000 dollars
- Bought between 10 and 49 items
- Referred between 1 and 9 users
- Most Wanted Bounty Winner
- Envato Studio (Microlancer) Beta Tester
- Grew a moustache for the Envato Movember competition
I’ve flagged this post for staff reply since I would also like to know if that is allowed or not. As far as I understood this should be allowed because it is NOT the same version with all the features instead it’s a “trimmed” version with less features. But let’s see what the officials have to say
hi infuse, thank you i don’t know there is feature for flagging question for staff reply. haha. i also wonder if its possible to do. its will really help to promote themes and increase exposure outside themeforest especially when its have a lot of download.
in short yes its okay to do so as long as its not the same files etc
theres tons of authors that just give the PSD away I believe(DDstudios) at one point ran a site dedicated to theme PSD ’s from authors here
theres also CC authors who give free versions of their plugins away but have a premium option
