Only every eleventh buyer of my items rate it. This ratio looks quite low to me.

How do you remember your buyers to vote? Comments? Email?

In the theme documentation and sometimes in the item comments. :)

What about email? Would it be annoying and causes bad rating?

The only time I remind buyers to rate is when they say something like “this product is so awesome! thanks for your great service! I’ll tell everyone about this!”

When I’m 100% sure they’re gung-ho about the product, I’ll thank them very much for their kind words and say that “it’d really help me out if you could rate the product well” – generally they’re more than happy to do so.

I think trying to push it on every customer runs a big risk, though.

That’s exactly what I do as well. :)

Only if they contact me with a question or an issue – I like to remind them to rate the theme after I successfully solve their problem.

I don’t because some will make mistakes and rate it 1 star and i do not need that.

i think envato should add a little notification to buyers dashboard to rate item when purchased.
