I know Justin. I just want to delete those ratings for support related issues, that’s all. I think it’s a violation of Envato marketplace rules and morals to rate 1 star when asking for support on something users should know, so those ratings need to be removed ASAP.

That’s impossible mate, and you should know it. There are more than 23.000 authors, let’s say 50% of them have ratings, that’s 11500, now the add the amount of items, and start sorting through the database, ask authors which items they got 1 star for no support, emphasizing that al authors are honest , and remove them.

It’s simply impossible. That’s why there’s an option to offer support in the first place, if you don’t offer support, sure your items sell, but the ratings might not be the greatest!

You can get 1 star rating because the user doesn’t like your theme options panel. I guess that’s irrelevant for you and you might want it removed, but that’s not correct.

Obviously, there are some ratings that are wrongly given, but not one star ratings should be removed, i’ve seen some themes lately without any kind of support or anything and people were asking for weeks how to do something..or reporting that something no longer works…

Ok, support is not required, but c’mon, not answering any message for weeks and expecting to have 5 stars is just non-sense, you can’t live in this business if you completely ignore the customers. Ratings are a sign of how much does the item fit to the customer and how satisfied is he by your services(coding services, overall layout, even support, even if it’s not included. They do matter).

If buy buy a car without insurance and after 6 months it brokes, obviously you won’t be happy and you’ll rate it as a very poor car, even if it worked just fine for months.

What about those customers who just threaten you, either provide free customization/changes or I will low rate your theme? The argument: it must be included in the theme. I do not wish to provide the support to those who low rate my themes without prior reason. I think it would be great to send a report to the authors when some one “sure, with the username ;) ” rated your theme 1-2 stars.

Calling noobs some of your buyers is unprofessional, those “noobs” make you a living, most of them are just glad to read some extra things if you just send them some guides for newbies. You’re not selling your services to developers here, but to normal people, that are not programmers. Joomla and WordPress are for normal people, the so-called “noobs” by you, you’re not selling themes and templates to programmers.

Actually it’s the opposite, I am making a living with the others 99% who rated me 5 stars, and the noobs ask for refund :)

The way you treat the “noobs” is what makes you a good author at the end of the day, because if you come to think about it, all buyers are “noobs”, else, all buyers would be authors and we’d be out of business.
