I would be nice if we use rating/feedback like ebay. If you have have a negative feedback you should give an explanation as well. It would also nice if they buyer contact the buyer before the leave negative/1star rating.

I got many of my items single rated 1 star…..

I think it has to be competing authors or some damage doers… that is so annoying.

The point is truly simple and I can give real life examples by the tone! If you purchase a 1400HP car, and you smack it in a tree because you have no idea what driving is, you don’t go and sue the car manufacturer!

How harmfull are one star ratings really?
I mean don’t you have to place it in perspective? For me peronsonally if I see an item with a lot of ratings and none of them are one or two stars (in some Wordpress plugins with similar rating system) i would question or integrity of these ratings. (sometimes)

There are always people who see something on the complete opposite as you see it. Some people are very unreasonable and blame everything and everyone else for where they mess up. And those people can click a mouse button. And they will. Even more than positive constructive people.

But I would say, let them rate one star. If your item is good it will survive these low ratings easily. Especially if those people start to spam your contact section. It’s right where you want to have them. Because you have arguments, they usually don’t. And if such a discussion is putting off a potential customer you can ask yourself if you wanted this customer in the first place

I have absolutely no problem with 1-star ratings, if someone isn’t happy, then so be it. In the end, if a theme has 20 5-stars and 1 1-star, then it’s pretty clear to everyone involved what’s going on, I mean, look at the breakdown for Avada, I doubt that’s going to change it’s sales!

The only situation in which 1-stars scare me are ‘Whoops, I need a refund’ situations, i.e;

‘I bought your theme and it doesn’t work with wp.com – I need a refund…’

Now what scares me a little there is that if Envato don’t honour the refund, they’re likely to take anger on the file since a few buyers don’t distinguish Envato from authors.

In which case I think all star ratings need leaving well alone, but if a refund is requested & denied then there should be at least a little investigation into 1-star sabotage.
