By replacing USD with EUR currency and keeping the same price units, an average HTML Template would cost 15 EUR instead of 15 USD and an average WP Theme would cost 45 EUR instead of 45 USD

Knowing that the average purchasing volume per buyer is low then this wouldn’t affect the buyers’ expenditure and at the same time it would increase Authors’ revenues by over 35%

what do you guys think ?
Cheers

This really feels like deja-vu :)

Over the years it’s one of the topics that has come up again and again.. and again.

Here’s one of the threads from 6 years ago. http://activeden.net/forums/thread/50usd-34euros-/2904#24843

I think there’s a reason USD is the name of the game. I’m not going to start elaborating but there were some marketplaces over the years that tried to charge in Euros. Most, as far as I know, came and went, and we’re still here. ;)

Thanks for your feedback, you know at the end of the day the main issue is that prices of templates & themes should increase a little bit because we are a lot of European-based authors on Envato and this conversion from USD to EUR is really affecting our business (eg. a template with 111 PSD layered pages that costs 12 USD (that’s 8.7 Euros) that’s really low compared to the efforts to create those PSDs, idem for other related items, especially HTML templates)

Thanks anyway for your feedback Cheers UOU Apps

I think there should be a “pay with bitcoin” option.

We all would like this but it will never happen. Why? Simply because the DOLLAR is a more international (and standardized) coin than the EURO. Second, the majority of the buyers here deal in USD not in EUR, so even if this wouldn’t be a price increase issue as you say, it would still be at least “confusing”.

it’s normal you’re a buyer :) but when it comes to templates and themes, when a buyer spends $5 more to buy an HTML template this doesn’t really affect his balance while for the authors it represents a 35% increase in revenues (with all the features that are included in a template $15 is quite low) so my point is more about a price increase of items than a purely currency conversion

I could use EUR more often but I still prefer the greenback! I think it’ll remain stronger, while Euro is a little bit made up, and too many countries influece it (could go down faster and could be doomed sonner). E.g. if one country goes down, it heavily influences the currency. That way if you have dollars and want to spend in EUR, at time of crisis you’ll be richer. If USA is in crisis then stocks are sold (they go down), then dollar value goes up, which is not good for USA exports but then again good for you if you have USD but at the same time you are not an american. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the system works well, there is no need for EUR here :)
