Would I be able to get some constructive criticism for this Error 404 template I’ve submitted (since rejected).
It looks like I’ve received a standard message with no additional feedback:
“Unfortunately your submission doesn’t meet our current minimum technical quality requirements for the category it was submitted to. Please consider taking some time to familiarize yourself with our current library and quality levels of popular items before resubmitting.”
Not sure if this means they didn’t like the design at all, or if it needs additional items added to it or what…
This error page follows Metro design language, and I’ve set it on a 15px baseline grid at all media query breakpoints. There are other very minimal error 404 pages as well like this one so I’m hoping that’s not the reasoning.
Would this benefit from additional color choices? Most other error 404 pages that are in the marketplace currently seem to have color packs i.e. this one More Error message packs? I’m hesitant to add textured backgrounds etc. because this would render this far from the Metro design language.
Here’s the Demo
Thanks for your help guys. I’m excited to get this improved upon.
First, it’s too simple. Try to make it more interactive and user friendly. Also try to make that “404” text smaller, to avoid scrolling for seeing the search bar, menu etc. You can also add multiple colour schemes. The copyright and the social media icons have a wrong margin top, as you can see here (http://i.snag.gy/NGIE2.jpg )
Thanks for taking the time to look at it, I appreciate it.
While I was reducing the size of the 404 text, I realized while the layout was responsive, the text itself was not fully responsive so I’m fixing that as well. I’ll add additional color schemes, and I might as well create pages for the other possible error messages to make this pack more useful.
Good catch on the spacing between the content and footer.
