Hi guys, sorry if this is a repeat thread. But the thing is that, whenever we release a new theme in the forest, we do find that many Rippers steal the files (ripped from live preview we guess) and distribute free on their websites. How can we prevent this, any idea? We understand this issue may be already discussed, but anyone has a good working strategy to solve / reduce this threat?

The only way
Theres nothing can do about it to prevent ripping. Inform envato, maybe they will take action. It also means the designs are Quality

Minify/obsfuscate your code as much as possible. You can change the way js functions are loaded, pack them all and minify it. Minify CSS . This is, make customization of ripped templates as much complicated as you can. You won’t prevent from ripping, but maybe you will get some sales from users with too much headaches trying to work with useless ripped files.
And yes, as much as you can, forget about it.

Welcome to selling online digital goods
bitfade, svdnl, pezflash, digitalscience, Thank you guys for having your response on this.
If we minify the code on live preview, is it against the standard practice here? I guess potential buyers may check the code on the preview. Anyway, thanks for your response

as long as its demos its fine, and if the buyer is checking the code they are most likely using a development tool(firebug, web inspector etc…) which generally un-minifies it

Place a comment on top of the code, alerting users that everything has been minified and protected. Tell them there the wonderful, clean and readable code the template includes. And add another comment for rippers:
“What do you expect your mom would say about what you are trying to do?”
And if you know how to draw a hellraiser on ascii, do it.
