It’s the underlying language runtime that the marketplaces run on. For those that didn’t know we use the Ruby on Rails framework to run the marketplaces. Ruby is the programming language/runtime, and rails is the code you add on top to build web application in.The version of Ruby and Rails we use is starting to get really out of date and so we need to upgrade to kind of “keep up” with feature upgrades and bug-fixes and the like.
There’s a big difference between Ruby 1.8 and 1.9, so it’s a fairly complicated upgrade with the risk of introducing subtle bugs. We’ve been testing a lot in the Melbourne office, but we just thought it was risky enough to give you guys some fair warning.
Nice info for hackers
Thx for keep us informed
@aaranmcguire, RoR is object oriented, just like PHP frameworks (at least some of them), you can count classes/modules for PHP frameworks in marketplace on fingers of one hand, not to mention Ruby.
@mudi, nothing that everyone already knows

Thanks for understanding ….
See you around…
Thanks for the info John.
Probably a stupid question but what does a programming language have to do with a network of websites?
