Just wanted to start a topic on sales rising and dropping.
Wanted to know your marketing strategy, statistics analytics etc.
Since i noticed that it is impossible to predict sales this days, for example our new template went about 20 sales the first day which was cool and then the second dropped hard now its early to talk yet but just wanted to know, why do you think some templates which are similar like other go great and other crappy… maybe luck, some other strategy? Even noticed that some templates have same features then others and are priced 40$ other 45$ now that can be turning point in buyers eyes…
as i sad just wanted to start a debate to see what’s going trough your minds.
Btw, there’s a great tool to predict day/week/month sales – http://goo.gl/jK14a (not always correct, but the algorithm seems to be close to reality)
I actually agree, but the question how did he get up to 150 first week for example. It is a huge factor of luck how the overall sales go that week. That is why the top sold themes is a killer for the rest and that is why we need an awesome filtering system or maybe not?
I am 100% sure that if the sales numbers would be hidden from buyers then the sales would be much more balanced across the marketplace.
- Sold between 250 000 and 1 000 000 dollars
- Has been a member for 4-5 years
- Interviewed on the Envato Notes blog
- Author had a File in an Envato Bundle
- Author was Featured
- Author had a Free File of the Month
- Bought between 10 and 49 items
As long as your items are shown in the weekly best sellers, your sales will always maintain a relatively high amount. I confirm that there is a percent of users that purchase “best sellers” mostly.
Not totally true, as that thread mentioned you have to be very high up there in top 10… since we had a theme with 75 sales, and already next week we missed top for 1 sale with 48 sales.
And then it started to fall. But yes it would be interesting to see what would happen if number of sales wouldn’t be seen. Or even just weekly popular turned off and the filter also…
But if i was up there i am sure i would want that
I think the fact is the successful theme not depend on themeforest buyers , they have a larger visits from ads , author’s main site after the theme move out of index page.
I noticed after a week , I only have 30-40 visits per day , how could I get 20 sales with this visitor number?
This could actually be a valid point. Some time ago i was searching on google and got on some sites with themes redirecting on themeforest and in sidebar they all had most popular templates and just like top 6 or 8 of them.
And also do you think price changes anything i mean 45 or 40… would be great to have some feedback from buyers… since its very weird if you check themes in weekly top practically all have same features and some are 40$ some 45$ that could be a deciding edge or am I paranoid? But it seems like unfair competition advantage.
