Is there a way to search an items comment thread?

I’ve purchased an item and I want to ask the author a question, but it seems like a question he/she may have already answered. There are ALOT of comments, and I’m wondering if there way to search through them…

If not, that would be a cool feature to have. There are a few items that have hundreds purchases and even more comments. And I’m sure that the ability to search through the comments would minimize the amount of questions that are duplicated.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s thinking this!

I almost thought that I was missing something, because it seems like something Envato would have already thought of…

Ok, this could be a feature but why don’t use Google meanwhile?

If your item URL is: http://themeforest.net/item/your-item-title/154906

then the comments are located at: http://themeforest.net/item/your-item-title/discussion/154906

If you search for “query” you have to ask Google with

query site:http://themeforest.net/item/your-item-title/discussion/154906

Should work

Great idea. But would that not just search the last page? Could be a problem when some items have tens and tens of pages.

I think Google will display results from http://themeforest.net/item/your-item-title/discussion/154906?page=1 and http://themeforest.net/item/your-item-title/discussion/154906?page=2 ... as well.

+1 for the comment page search option.

Does that work? I am trying many times but doesn’t work. Also I think making the users to search on google with item link may lead to undesired results. :P

I just tried and it worked for me using

query http://activeden.net/item/you-item-title/discussion/123456

(basically the exact same thing revaxarts said)

And I actually got results from pages 3, 5, and 8. So, yes, it does search other pages. But, in line with what VF said it’s definitely something that users should be able to do while remaining on the site.
