... to work on some music for AJ.

Again – there is a situation where cue can be 300 and home page is occupied by 2sec. sounds. C’mon guys … this is community and we have to do something about it.

Matt.

List of recently added items on front page makes less and less sense.

It happens that I am the one who’s “bombing” the front page atm with sounds that I’m currently working on – and I must add that I’m NOT doing that on purpose of being noticed. With so much files in the queue, nobody gets his place on homepage for long, so it doesn’t make much sense in a way of promotion.

That’s why I don’t understand a lack of motivation when lots of “2-seconds files” hit the home page.

On the other hand, I agree with Kristijan, there haven’t been much contest lately, nor anything to keep the community busy and build the library. :/
They probably don’t need that stuff anymore, with queues between 300 and 400 items :/

btw, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but martetplaces are reaching 800k members (795,357 atm). That tells me that situation with the queue is only going to get worse than it is now.

I’m sorry to go offtopic, but would somebody explain to me why my (first) message is flagged as inappropriate? It contains no bad words and isn’t bad-meaning.

Fact is, that if you upload a track, it is usually the 250th or even the 350th track in the queue line. You have to wait 5 or 6 days until the track gets approved and then it stays maximum for 5 or maybe 6 hours on the frontpage… BECAUSE then it is pushed away by a flood of “lazer gun shot 102 up to 112” or “transition and movement…” and whatnot. That is really annoying for those authors who really work hard for a 3 or 4 minute long quality track, apart from the stupid visual impression that a potential customer will have, when he /she is attacked by the author’s brickwall item appearance, that is neither useful for the author (s) nor the customers! From my point of view that leads to the customer’s behaviour to avoid the new item page, they will rather take the shortcut to the popular files because no one is interested to click oneself through a jungle of boring digital sounds I think…

Consequence: Bad for new authors and for authors who don’t play in the “Billboard Charts”

I started here in May 2010 and the queue had it’s maximum at approx. 100 items and tracks stayed at least 20 hours on the frontpage… Creating new tracks made sense for me!

I agree with you completely, because, the motivation to produce tracks under those circumstances is reduced very rapidly. The aim to get some exposure with some new tracks on the frontpage is no more given as long as sounds aren’t seperated from the music page. That has to be changed from my point of view. Apart from the quality issues… That’s another part of the game. Other marketplaces are raising quality standards, but what happens here?

Another thing is: What’s the function of the list with “files we do and we don’t need”?!

If you have a close look at this, you will see that items that are written on the “we don’t need list” (because the category is oversaturated) are approved daily, although AJ has more than enough lazer gun sounds and / or audio logos!

This place has it’s priority changed, from quality to quantity and that’s in my opinion not the right direction…

These are my thoughts…

This is, imho, the key aspect of your post. There is enough space for the “New items” box to be separated into two boxes, one containing music and other containing sounds. Or something like that. Yes, there are filters now, but that’s one click too many for many visitors, I guess.

I completely agree with you. Has I coud see in this marketplace the marketing strategy has not still well defined. I tried to speak about it by the problem of the ” Top New Authors” in the tread http://audiojungle.net/forums/thread/top-new-authors/44886 but it seemed just 2 or 3 people understood it…

Even my motivation is reducing very shorly, and I’m really SORRY of it.

Cheers.
