It’s nice to have the feedback on ratings now, it provides a method to improve products, but sometimes when you see the logic behind them it’s almost worse than not knowing. As an example, I have a 1 star for an item stating, “the theme is superb and has a lot of functionality” but they didn’t like the documentation. Seriously? Disliking the documentation it’s equivalent to 1 star? Would you give someone 4 stars for a piece of crap theme with exceptional documentation? The customer admits it is “suburb”, they believe in their mind that it is a 1 star item because of documentation quality? Maybe if we’re going to give them an option to rate an item for documentation they can actually rate the documentation. It sounds like this customer gave the theme 4-5 stars and the documentation 1 star, but it doesn’t translate that way when looking at the star rating because this person didn’t average the two they just applied the lowest value. That’s super frustrating.

Welcome to the reality!

This is how online rating systems work; we shouldn’t need to react for individual feedback and ratings. The average taken from a big collection of rating is the only way to gauge an item – I mean that’s the one nearly correct way to see ratings as a buyer as well as author. No worries.

Well that’s quite frustrating…. I can imagine one possible feedback for a 1-star rating similar to yours: “Well your item works perfectly but your preview image was not promoting it’s full glory!”

I think that unfortunately “Welcome to the reality!” is the right answer :)
Specially for wordpress items that are often purchased/managed by complete ””ignorant”” people.

I wish we had a tool to remove bad ratings left for absurd matters, butdon’t think it would be possible

yes, just leave troll reviews and get the item for free :)

what is described in the first post of this thread is cleaver way of rating 1star other authors competing files (by another author) with little hope of staff deleting the review and ban the user from reviewing your item again. Try arguing with support that your documentation is awesome and this needs to be removed.

Welcome to the reality!

You nailed it. :D

That’s kind of the point but I didn’t make it very well. Ignorance was slightly preferred. By not knowing someone was using this logic to give a 1 star rating, I was actually less frustrated. Ha!

I do value this feedback however, since nobody in my support forums ever mentions the documentation. I didn’t even know it was an issue since nobody was complaining.

Yeah I know this is not a good solution but sometimes I just want to click on a button and enjoy the silence

Some people are unbelievably selfish.
