I’m guessing that Envato receives some sort of compensation for this, and technically by giving away free items it translates into more sales for the authors which in turn “gives back to Envato” by giving you a nice percentage of those increased sales. It’s a win-win for Envato all around!
How does one limit a time period of free-ness of items if it’s on a cd and doesn’t giving away free items for promotion violate the exclusive author agreement?

Well basically I guess there will be some sort of agreement you’ll need to accept before your items get into the magazine. Just my guess though.

It’s a win win for the authors and Envato. The best thing is you get to get your name in a magazine. Now I’m sure that isn’t really easy task to accomplish.
