I think it’s great! I’m surprised it got rejected. The standards here must now be so incredibly high if this got rejected. I’d definitely keep tweaking it until it get approved.

When I view the Source Code it looks kind of messy, it needs line breaks and easily findable comments to easily make changes.

Also there seems to be too much white (blank) space in the header area.

Just my 2cents.

He probably compressed the source with a plugin. No biggie here. Just hope he does not submit it minified. :)

I agree with that. Wayyyyy to much whitespace up top.

+ I kinda like it. But. My opinion is that you’d need to increase the wrapper padding. The transition area from the background to the text is way to narrow.

After further review I don’t like the logo at all. It’s the font you used.

Judging by the rest of the design I guess you could do better.

some honesty.. First, I am not a designer but I am working with templates for years now and I have hired a couple of graphic designers for my corporate pages, who went to university for years learning to design.

I would not make a grey header with grey social icons, (what looks great if grey is the main color of the template) and pink or blue buttons on the rest of the design. Also you are using too many different styles of photos. Your design just doesn’t make much sense in my opinion.

Please don’t be mad, its just my taste and opinion, since I am not a professional i might be wrong.

take care

Edit: just visited your link, I think this design would be perfect for a gossip blog.

I wouldn’t get down about it. I’m about 1 week away from submitting my first theme. I’m expecting a long list of things I will need to change. This is just the process you need to get to in order to become a better web designer / developer. Less expectation means less disappointment.

As for the design (now that the link is working) its nice and clean which I like … there are a lot of things that could do with changing.. all of which are very very subtle. Perhaps forcus on 1 section of the site for a day and see what minor things you change on it (obviously back up before hand). I think you will be really surprised.

Also maybe run your theme from the W3C HTML validator… you probably have a whole bunch of tiny coding problems. Keep at it!

EDIT : Oh and one last thing.. how was your documentation when you submitted it? Have to make sure that it is super great and awesome!

You seem to have a massive problem with Whitespace, Contrast and Typography. That ruins your theme, so imho if you fix that you’re good to go.
