I got Vanilla Forums up and running with purchase verification. It works really well but the fact it is a hack just didn’t sit right with me. When a new version of VF comes out, updating will not be straightforward and in all honesty I would probably not bother even trying.

I then found a WordPress based solution called AuthorHQ, this one is really cool. It has lots of other features for authors like sales graphs and reports. I bought it, installed it and had a fully fledged support system in about 20 minutes!

However, in the end I decided to use Ticksy, it’s a hosted solution and takes away all the pain of maintaining your own support system. It has a really exciting roadmap and I think in a years time this will be the most popular solution. I chose this over AuthorHQ because I didn’t want to maintain a WP install.

The main thing I would say is to use some solution – I used the comment wall for far too long!

Any one who has done it for Joomla?

I’m using Vanilla Forum with the Purchase Code Verification since March and I’m really happy with it :)

Arrowthemes, I’m not sure what you mean by “any one who has done it for Joomla” but I’m using it for supporting my Joomla templates. The Vanilla Forum is totally not integrated with my Joomla website, it is installed on a subdomain and uses completely different database. You can check it out by visiting the “Support” section of my website :)

You can embed the whole forum in your website… I tried it but I didnt like it.

So man, the Vanilla Forum is worth trying it :) I think you’ll like it… I like it much more than Kunena ;)
