So, there’s been a few threads asking for camera recommendations, which got me wondering what everyone is shooting with and what you enjoy shooting most. I thought I’d start a thread for everyone to share their gear and maybe their (only one) favorite photo they’ve taken.

I shoot with a Pentax K-x, with plans to upgrade to a K-5 soon. I have the kit lens (18-55mm) I bought with it (which I don’t use any more), a 35mm f2.4, 50mm f1.7 and my most recently purchased lens, a DA* 50-135mm f2.8 (it’s crazy how expensive lenses get!). The next lens on my list is the DA* 16-50mm f2.8. It’s a small beginners kit so far but it’s growing. :)

Pentax K-x & gear

And that would be my most frequent photo model in the background (my cat Meco).

And this would be my favorite photo taken so far (with my kit lens), which was at the Grand Canyon. Personally, I like shooting outdoors stuff the most.

Okay, share yours now, I’m curious. :)

My father worked for his Dad, in their own photographic studio. They were professional photographers.

I got into cameras at age 13. I saved and saved: my choices back then were :

Olympus OM10 ( still have it in mint cond ) Canon AE1 Pentax ME super

I am going back 30 years !!!!!

........................................

I no longer use 35mm stuff, and opt instead for my digi Panasonic Lumix.

I have used, Mamiya contiflex and hassalblad ( excuse my spelling ) Both slr and tlr

I admire anyone who is adept with todays modern cameras, but now I am the point and shoot brigade.

It’s amazing how easy today’s DSLRs are (with their auto modes) but even for owning a DSLR on the simpler side of the scale, I continue to find new little features here and there. It will be interesting to see if people take to the new mirror-less cameras that are like a cross between a DSLR and a P&S.

Got my first DSLR two months ago – a Canon 7D.

And this: 50mm f 1.4 :D :D

And the standard lenses that come with the package 18 55mm.

The problem is I only went through the first two chapters of the book, and I got overwhelmed by work and couldn’t continue.

I hope I get to finish it and do some pics this year! :)

Jremick, thats an awesome squirrel photo!

A few months ago I upgraded my entry level dslr to a Nikon D700 body. Already had a 50mm 1.4 lens, but I had to get an all around 300mm lens because my other telephoto lens isn’t for full frame cameras.

Mine is actually very similar to yours.

I also have the Pentax K-x and a 50mm f1.7. I really like this lens, it has rarely come off the camera since I got it. My other lenses are a Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5 and a Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6. Next on my list is the DA40 limited. Mmm… pancakes.

I’m bad at favourites, but I like this shot: http://is.gd/PVOCXk . I took with the Sigma lens.

I used canon for years. Just over a year ago I won an Olympus E30 +14-54 mm lens. I have been a total Olympus convert since having sold all my canon gear. The kit I have now consist’s of 14-54mm kit lens 11-22mm wide angle for landscape work, 12-60mm swd a 50mm macro prime for travelling, Sigma EX 150mm macro, Olympus ED 50 -200 zoom + two ring flash sets and two FL50R flash guns. Not only are lenses expensive, one ring flash unit alone cost over £400. Plus you have all the other bits and bobs so all in all a very expensive hobby to start with. I am looking to up-grade to the Olympus E5 as soon as money permits. some of my favourite shots are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/xp1/sets/72157625672582885/ out of these I think the jaguar-2-ready and frog face come out tops purely for sharpness.

For anyone looking to purchase their first DSLR get down to your local store and shoot some pics with them. You do not have to spend silly amounts of money to get a camera to suit. If you are thinking of uploading pics to PhotoDune when it launches check out the camera specks they suggest before you make a purchase. They should post some camera guidelines when the site launches.
